Magic Breakfast
Somerville Primary School is proud to be in partnership with Magic Breakfast, providing
healthy breakfasts to our pupils so that they are settled and ready to learn.
Magic Breakfast provides Somerville with nutritious breakfast food to ensure
children start their school day in the best possible way. Breakfast gives children the
energy needed for the busy school morning, enabling them to focus on their
lessons.
Having breakfast at school makes a big impact across a child’s education. It’s not just a great start to the day. For pupils experiencing socio-economic disadvantage it has been continuously proven to positively impact educational attainment, concentration, focus and behaviour of all pupils in the classroom.
Come and join us at Breakfast club at 8:00am everyday.
What do we serve at Breakfast club?
At breakfast club we have a range of nutritious breakfast food available for your child to choose from. These include;
- Bagels
- A range of cereal
- Toast
Thanks to our partners at Heinz we now have a beans kettle in order to serve beans during Breakfast club!
Games
In addition to the breakfast service, we also set up a variety of games for your child to play with once they have finished eating their food. As children develop through their school years, they transition from the parallel stage of play to associative, where it is more interactive with others. As children become more independent and can articulate their needs, play with peers becomes more common and successfully charged. Free and busy play allows the mind and body to use the environment in a way that responds to children’s ideas and wants. Child-directed activities such as the ones we set up at our breakfast club help children reach higher levels of cognitive, social-emotional, and linguistic abilities as experience is the driver of development.
How do you register your child for a place?
You can secure a place at our free breakfast club by asking your child's teacher for a registration letter. Simply fill in the consent form and hand it back to the class teacher. It's that simple. We'll see you there!
Grab and Go service
If you are unable to attend the club then you are still able pick up some breakfast at the doors with our 'Grab and Go' service. You will find our Year 6 pupils waiting at the doors from 8:25am with warm bagels or toast. These are available for all students regardless of whether your child attends breakfast club or not.
